Ensure the auto dropper in the nether side is in one chunk. See figure 2 for an example.

Load villagers so they can sleep in the beds initially, bed discovery is difficult for them from their normal scared position

If you did not and some of the villagers are not sleeping, wait until night, close the fence gates and remove the carpets. Replace these while they sleep. Once in place reopen the fence gates.
